WELCOME TO THE 2009 ACTIVITIES PROGRAMME
The music department divides into choir and instrumental music. We offer music twice a week for both junior and seniors. The department displays its talents through a concert held in the big hall.
TRACK AND FIELD
We offer the following events track 3000m, 1500m, 800m, 400m, 200m and 100m. Field: long jump, shot put and high jump. We will develop physical strength and stamina; thereafter we will work on individual skill development. We host an inter-house competition in February the top three athletes are selected into the school team and preparations then start for the interschool competition held in April.
SOCCER GIRLS, BOYS, JUNIOR AND SENIOR
Soccer is open to all for the first term. Thereafter we select the first teams; only the selected plays can then participate in soccer. If we have available coaches and venue a B team will have practice.
Netball is open to all for the first term. Thereafter we select the first teams; only the selected players can then participate in soccer. If we have available coaches and venue a B team will have practice.
Volleyball is a fun sport. We would like to encourage the juniors who are new to the sport to try it out in the first term. The seniors know how close we are to winning. We encourage you to get involved early and help the juniors on a Wednesday.
Cricket is offered to the boys however, if we have girls who are serious about cricket and can play to some extent they are welcome to join. Cricket is offered in the first and third term. The seniors have two days while at this point the juniors have only one day.
Table Tennis has limited space. We take only 12 players on Monday and 16 on Wednesday. We will do the activity on a rotation basis. If you played in the first term then you will not be allowed in the second term unless there is space available.
Basketball will be on offer as an afternoon activity beginning of second term. However, we have basketball practice on a Friday afternoon after school.
Tennis will be on offer as an afternoon activity beginning of second term. Private lessons can be arranged for a fee and are held after school. (See Ms Martin)
We are still in the process of building the pool. However, we have a club that teaches beginner and advance swimming for a fee and are held after school. (See Ms Martin)
FITNESS AND WEIGHT CONTROL
Classes for fitness and weight control are open to all, even your parents. These are held every Tuesday and Thursday 5-6pm for a fee. (See Ms Martin)
We offer public speaking to juniors and seniors. We will host the first interschool event on the on March the 7th 2009.
We have a variety of board games. Students play in groups or one on one. We will develop the chess department. If you know how to play chess and need minimum help you can play this during board games.
The school magazine is a student publication. It comes out once a year at the end of the year. Students registered for the school magazine stay with the group for the whole year. Space is limited to 10.
* On Monday (form1& 2) and Tuesday(form 3&4) when the bell goes at 2:30pm you go straight to the room number next to your activity where you will register with your coach and the coach will let you know the procedure from there.
Wednesday (whole school) when the bell goes at 1:55pm you go straight to the room number next to your activity where you will register with your coach and the coach will let you know the procedure from there.
* All bags must put either in your locker or at an allocated space by the coach of your activity.
* NO BAGS MUST BE LEFT IN THE CAR PARK, UNDER A TREE, NEXT TO A ROCK
* For sports you must be changed into sports kit as determined by your coach.
